Languages other than English overview

Languages other than English

Language is the basis of our communication and human interaction. By learning a foreign language, students develop knowledge, understanding and skills for successful participation in our dynamic world.

Moving between countries, cultures and languages has become more commonplace because of globalisation. High quality education in languages enables students to respond positively to the opportunities and challenges of their rapidly changing world.

Parramatta High School offers Indonesian and French in Years 7 to 12. The study of a foreign language is mandatory in Years 7 and 8. From Year 9 onwards languages other than English (LOTE) may be an elective depending on student choices.
