Parramatta High School is a partially selective high school, with 60 student places available in each student cohort from Years 7 to 10.
Criteria for entry into Years 8 to 12 for 2023
Vacancies can occur in Years 8 to 12 selective classes. Entry to selective classes in Years 8 to 12 is governed by the school rather than a centralised program as with Year 7 students. For more information, visit Years 8 to 12 enrolment.
Selection is based solely on merit and no examination is required.
Applications must be accompanied by:
- a copy of the student's most recent half yearly academic report
- a copy of the most recent yearly academic report
- a copy of the student's NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) results from Year 7 and Year 9, if applicable
- if applicable, copies of documents highlighting excellence in extracurricular activities in areas such as sport, competitions, community services or the arts may also be included.
Applications open on the 21st June. A payment of $50 to cover administration costs must accompany each application. Applications close on 22nd July. No applications will be accepted after this date.

Selective Schools Application Pamphlet provides you with all the information required to submit a Selective Schools Application.
A selection panel will convene to consider and rank applications in order of academic merit based upon the evidence submitted. Successful candidates are notified by mail in September of each year. Please note: information about outcomes will not be available to applicants over the telephone.
It should be noted that often there are no vacancies in Years 8 to 12 and successful candidates may be placed on a reserve list.
