Parramatta High School is a national leader in Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
The PBL program was fully implemented at the school in 2006.
The program involves the following process:
- using data to identify areas of concern across the school
- Making clear, simple procedures for students to follow in different settings of the school
- teaching these procedures and expected behaviours explicitly to students in regular lessons
- revising these lessons regularly
- supporting teachers with professional learning on implementation of PBL procedures
- rewarding good behaviourand having clear consequences for poor behaviour
- 80% of students should respond to "universals" – the procedures and expectations that we have established for the classroom and other targeted areas around the school
- the next 15% of students will require interventions as a group to further manage their behaviour.
